A large, multi-level system is too big to hold and too hard to coordinate across people and agents
State: open/proposed
Statement
Section titled “Statement”The system exists at several levels — repo, solution, package, module — with many dependencies between them. No one person holds all of it; agents see only the slice they are handed. Without a declared boundary to reason inside, a person cannot tell what a change touches, and an agent cannot be given a bounded piece of work. Coordination falls back to conversation and re-reading.
Who/what it affects
Section titled “Who/what it affects”The maintainers and contributors working in the repo, and any agent handed a piece of work in it. Project legibility itself is affected: the ability to reason about what a change touches and to hand off a bounded task.
Evidence
Section titled “Evidence”- This repo hosts several projects at several depths — solutions, products, apps, and packages (N-41AZ-vision, “What we are building”).
- N-41AZ-vision, “Why it exists” states the problem directly: “A large system is also too big to hold in one head… Without a boundary to reason inside, a person cannot tell what a change touches, and an agent cannot be handed a bounded piece of work.”
- The module-graph decision and milestone (D-XCXA, M-D2I1) carry the response.
Toward resolution
Section titled “Toward resolution”Control units chunk the system into pieces small enough to understand, each with its own model. People and agents coordinate by unit, and the whole stays legible from the top — the module graph section of N-41AZ-vision.
