T-EUTY-backup-desktop-install

State: closed/done · Impact: medium · Complexity: medium

The backup product has a Tauri shell but bundle.active: false and no build:desktop script, so it cannot be built into an app or installed. Polish can; backup should match.

In solutions/determined/products/backup/:

  • package.json gains build:desktop (tauri build --config src-tauri/tauri.bundle.conf.json).
  • The shared desktop bundle configuration builds Determined Backup.app and retains externalBin: ["binaries/family-cli"]: saving settings notes uses the family-cli sidecar even though backup operations no longer use the retired node backup sidecar.
  • src-tauri/Cargo.toml adds tauri-plugin-dialog and tauri-plugin-opener, and capabilities/default.json grants only dialog:default and opener:allow-reveal-item-in-dir. The vault picker (ShellVaultsModal via pickDirectory) needs the dialog.
  • The Backups settings section shows the store location read-only, with a button that opens it in Finder once the store has been initialized. The location itself stays machine-local and is not editable.
  • AC-1: moon run product-backup:install-desktop installs /Applications/Determined Backup.app.
  • AC-2: Launched from Finder with no registered vault, the app shows the first-run vault gate; picking a directory with the native picker makes it the active vault.
  • AC-3: Back Up Now and the schedule work in the installed app with no repo checkout and no bun on PATH.
  • AC-4: The vault choice survives a restart.
  • AC-5: Settings shows the store path; after the store exists, “Show in Finder” opens it.
  • Signing, notarization and auto-update.
  • The shared bundle overlay in open PR #2396.
  • T-GHKW: the installed app cannot run the node arm.
