T-OQAT-dev-shim-says-run-bun-install

State: planning/draft · Impact: medium · Complexity: small

The ~/.local/bin/sdlc shim runs the source of whichever checkout you are in. After a fast-forward that adds a dependency, every command crashes with Cannot find package 'smol-toml' until someone runs bun install. The fix is a clear message, not a crash.

The shim (solutions/ontological/cli/sdlc, dev-checkout layer) execs the checkout’s source directly. A missing package surfaces as a raw module-resolution stack trace.

When the dev-checkout source fails because a package is missing, sdlc prints one line naming the checkout and saying to run bun install there, then exits non-zero.

  1. Find where the dev-checkout layer starts the source entry.
  2. Catch module-not-found for a package (not a relative import) at startup and print the hint.
  3. Test with a temp checkout missing one dependency.
AreaNote
solutions/ontological/cli/Launcher and node/bun entry
  • AC-1: With a dependency removed from node_modules, sdlc --version from that checkout prints the bun install hint instead of a stack trace.
  • AC-2: The installed (non-dev) copy is unaffected.
  • Running bun install automatically.
